DEVELOPING AN INTERESTThere were a variety of ways that people discovered k-pop:
I asked a hardcore k-pop fan about their first experience and this was what they said: "From my personal experience, I developed a liking to k-pop by being forced to go to a k-pop concert with my sister. BIGBANG (k-pop group) changed the way I saw k-pop, I used to hate k-pop as I always thought it was all about plastic surgery, boys who look like girls, etc. They were both passionate about their music as well as the fans, it even rained on the day but they were sporting enough to perform on the slippery stage. Their live vocals and interaction with the audience won me over. " |
WHY DO PEOPLE LIKE K-POP?
OneIf you haven't heard of how the idol's themselves feel about having this job, you wouldn't know why k-pop fans love k-pop. Idols have done interviews, where they are able to express their true self to the fans. Their heartwarming motivational cheers to both fans and themselves is what fans really like, it's like a personal message to fans saying 'don't give up, always work towards your goal'.

TwoK-pop is not just about the singing and dancing, it also includes the Korean culture itself. People get so engrossed with the idols to the point of wanting to know about what it would feel like to live in Korea. This spark of interest is due to fans wanting to know more about their idols, even traveling all the way to Korea just to visit the idol's company building in hopes of seeing their idol walk out the door.

ThreeAnother element that contributes to people liking k-pop is fanservice.
Idols take a lot of effort to try an interact with fans examples are:

Besides all these factors, the music itself is so diverse that there is bound to be an idol group/soloist that people will like. People won't get bored of listening to only one style of music, which is one of k-pop's main goals: to tailor music in a way that will suit everyone's taste.
